A few summers ago we decided to save money by foregoing our usual beach vacation and having a Chattanooga Staycation. (Totally recommend this; especially if you live in Chattanooga!) This meant that we could spend a little more money than we usually might have for doing some of the things around our beautiful city. We had BOGO tickets for the Chattanooga Ducks, so we decided to give that a try.
This was a really fun tour! We started out learning that the duck (the aquatic + land vehicle) was built for and by the military. It isn't used by them now, so various cities are taking advantage of their unique abilities. We learned a little bit about the city as we drove through and then there was the exciting hill down into the Tennessee River.
With a splash! our city tour became a river tour, the temperatures cooled, and the sites and sounds were more peaceful.

We got to see some of our favorite places (like The Passage) from the water.

We also saw some of the local wildlife.

Some of us even got to try our hand at driving the duck!
It was a great tour! The only reason I would give it a four out of five stars is the expense. I know that it costs money to staff and maintain the duck, but I felt like the tickets were a little much. If our family were to go today, it would cost us $99 for an hour and a half tour. It is great for a vacation or occasional splurge, but definitely not a just-hanging-out kind of expense.
